Levels of Fat

Levels of Fat

There are dangers if your body fat dips too low and it can be just as dangerous as high body fat. Trying to implement a fat loss diet in order to get healthier is good. Most people have specific numbers they want their weight to be at and an image associated with this. My advice to you is don't worry about the numbers. Go on looks and how you would like to see yourself.

When your only trying to lose 10 or 15 pounds, chances are your not very obese. You may say you're not happy with your weight, but it is not a good to go on a crazy diet plan to lose 30 pounds of fat. The type of people that need to lose 30 to 200 pounds of weight, should be aggressive with their fat loss because it could kill them.

As far as your health goes, it's good to find good middle ground between too much body fat and not enough. Being too far on either end is unhealthy.

Health Problems Of High Body Fat Percentages

  • Out of control cholesterol levels
  • Possible heart disease
  • Highly probable to get diabetes
  • High impact on bones and joints that have to support all your weight
  • Less abilities to exercise
Most people are already aware of these types of problems and diseases that come along with obesity. It is good to know how close you are to these problems as a result of your weight. Once you know and accept this, it is more likely that your going to try and change. Discipline
will be something to look into.

Health Risks of Not Enough Fat

This end of the stick is less thought of. The people who are able to get enough motivation and help themselves exercise more, eat better, and lose fat might have problems managing their weight loss. You can't just keep losing fat forever. When you're finally at a healthy weight, learn how to manage your body composition. This is possible by plateauing on purpose. Find a sweet spot where calories going in and calories being burned are about equal. To stay toned, do some exercise. Without further explanation, here is what happens when you don't have enough body fat:
  • Deficiencies of minerals and nutrients
  • Lack of vitamins from fat
  • No place to store extra nutrients when you do get them
  • Poor bone health (Osteoporosis)
Finding A Healthy Sweet Spot

Females should shoot for between 18-30% body fat if you're under age 40. After 40, look to raise this by a few percentages. It is alright to go under 18% if you maintain healthy amounts of muscle building and running workouts because your body will develop lots of lean muscle mass.A male should try and shoot for between 7-18% if under the age of 40. Over this age requires 11-23% of fat in your body composition. These levels are different for men and women because women need more fat to stay healthy as a result of biological factors.
